Kelder Assistent Opleiding 2020/21

Ons sal datums so gou moontlik sirkuleer.

Cellar Assistant Training 2020/21

We are anxious to proceed with SKOP and other qualifications as soon as possible, but the wellbeing of our staff and clients remain our first priority.  At this stage there are no clear guidelines from the government with respect to adult education and we will keep you updated on any new developments.  We plan to present the complete range of SKOP programs in all the areas as in the past.  Dates for all the relevant courses will be circulated as soon as it becomes available.

New intake of the NQF 3 National Certificate in Winemaking as well as the NQF 4 Generic Management will also commence in the second semester.  During the lockdown period a new NQF 1 Food and Beverage Handling qualification was developed.   Since this is a level 1 qualification we foresee a much bigger group of potential learners to qualify for it.  We are also including SKOP material into the qualification.

Existing Learnerships that commenced during 2019 continue as planned with some extension as a result of the lockdown situation.  We are using distance training (Whatsapp, Google Hangouts and Zoom) in the interim until conventional face to face training can proceed.

Nominations for 2020 Learnerships must reach our office as soon as possible.  Diagnostic tests for Learnerships are compulsory for new intakes and are free of charge.  We would like to complete these tests to identify suitable candidates for the programs.

Skills Census

It is a priority of the board of WTSA to get a better understanding of the education levels and further education needs of the Cellar Assistants in the Industry.  WTSA is busy with a survey to collect relevant information for this and we urge you to participate and share this information in the interest of the Industry as a whole and more specifically the career development of the Cellar Assistants.
